What is emoko?
emoko is a web browser just like FireFox or Internet Explorer, with one big difference  -  emoko is built using video game technology.

When you browse the web with emoko, pages are rendered inside a 3D world, you are represented by a 3D avatar and you can see and talk to other people at the same web pages as you.

  With emoko, you can...
  • browse the web in 3D
  • display multiple pages side by side on one screen
  • see other people who are at the same web page as you
  • text and voice chat with them
  • meet up with your friends and browse the web in groups
  • draw on web pages together

For gamers, think of it as "co-op for the web."  The YouTube clip below shows some of the things you can do in emoko - but there is much more.




New Release ! (version 0.9.6225)

This is our second update to emoko. We've made a lot of bug fixes, updated much of the user interface, updated the default environment, tweaked grab-scrolling, overhauled interaction with web pages, updated avatars, and much more.

We have also implemented an automatic updater to keep emoko fully patched - allowing us to release more frequent updates from now on!

Anyone can download and use emoko, but registered alpha testers may be asked to test specific features and to join group testing sessions.

You need a strong computer to run the alpha version of emoko. Any decent gaming PC from the last 3 years should be fine, but a dual-core system with a dedicated video card is a must. We will optimize emoko to run on older and slower systems in future releases.
